Our Objectives:
- To undertake research and to develop programmes to study, preserve, recover and restore all aspects of Bermuda’s terrestrial and marine biological diversity, including threatened and protected species, critical habitats and invasive species management, and to produce scientific papers and technical reports on these programmes.
- To provide assessment, advice and promotion for the preservation of all aspects of Bermuda’s biodiversity, including species and their habitats, agriculture and marine heritage and ocean health, with specific support to the Department of Planning.
- To produce educational outreach materials, programmes and supporting facilities to promote the appreciation and care of Bermuda’s natural environment and marine heritage, including films, attractions, exhibits and publications.
- To collect specimens for preservation in the Natural History Museum and to collate, manage and disseminate information on Bermuda’s natural history, through the Natural History Library and dedicated databases.
- To develop policy and legislation to support protection and conservation of Bermuda’s biological diversity and marine heritage.
- To provide effective support for the agricultural sector and the management of the Marketing Centre.
