The Department of Conservation Services was established in 2002 with the core goal of serving as the Government's public engagement agency to promote the greening of Bermuda.
It is now part of the Bermuda Government's Ministry of Public Works.
What we do
The Department of Conservation Services undertakes research and monitoring programmes to assess the status of Bermuda’s unique habitats and species and to promote the preservation and restoration of those that are threatened. Conservation Services is also responsible for documenting, researching and conserving Bermuda’s historic shipwrecks.

Conservation Services works closely with other government departments and environmental NGOs to ensure sustainable use of Bermuda’s marine and terrestrial resources, and encourages community participation in environmentally responsible behaviour. This includes the promotion of local agricultural produce through the Government Marketing Centre. The department also supports the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) in providing educational exhibits for Bermudians and visitors.
Conservation Services provides advice to the Bermuda Government on policy and legislation related to Bermuda’s marine and terrestrial environment.
